AWE FALLOUT
"So it begins..."
PP: First, let's go over what happened the last episode. The show started with Raucous #1 pick, Randy Orton, facing Fierce #1 pick, Brock Lesnar. This was a dream match for many, and people were excited to see it, but it did NOT go the way anyone, except maybe Lesnar had intended.
PP: The #2 picks saw CM Punk and John Cena square off. Where we saw some bizarre behavior from the "Second City Saint". The match ended in questionable fashion, with Punk tricking the Ref, making him think Cena laid him out with a chair shot, and Punk walked away with the win.
PP: The #3 picks saw Ryback and Tyson Kidd face off. This turned out to be a pretty good match for both men, but Ryback walked away with the win, after one of his finishers, the clothesline from hell, brought Kidd crashing down.
PP: And our main event saw the final draft picks of the day, Luke Harper, and John Morrison square off. What was shaping up to be a good match was cut short though, when Harper caught Morrison off guard, and delivered the black hole slam, evening the shows' winners at 2 a piece for the night.
PP: However, the night would not be over, as Hogan led his talent out to the ring, where it looked like they were going to prey on an obliterated John Morrison. This brought out Zeb Colter, CM Punk, and Tyson Kidd, but Brock was nowhere to be seen. After security had to come in and break everything up, Lesnar cleared the ring out, and before all hell could break loose, AWE Owner Dana White put his foot down, and made the announcement that we would have an AWE Heavyweight Championship Tournament...
PP: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! I am Plucky S. Preston, Esq. and this is AWE Fallout! Where we get you caught up on all things AWE, especially from our most recent show. And since there's a whole lot to cover from the first episode of Raucous, which saw draft picks selected to both Raucous and Fierce, we have three guests this evening! First, we'll talk with Raucous GM, Hulk Hogan. Then Fierce GM Zeb Colter will join me, and finally AWE Owner Dana White will be here to finish things up...
PP: Here is Raucous GM Hulk Hogan. How you doin' tonight, Hulkster?
HH: I'm good Plucky. I'm good. Just chillin' and having a good time. I wasn't expecting your show to be so relaxed. You've got some fine booze selections in the green room.
PP: I'm a man of refined tastes, Mr. Hogan. I highly recommend trying the Scotch if you haven't, already. But sadly, we're not here to wax on about eighteen year old single malt. We're here to discuss the pilot episode of Raucous. What are your feelings on how it went down?
HH: Well you know, all in all, I'm feeling alright about it. Randy got his ass kicked, and that was a bummer, but he should be good to go by the next episode. Cena let me down, but -- CM Punk has never been a push over. Can't take anything away from him. Not sure what's up with his behavior backstage, or some of his antics in the ring, but -- who knows? Maybe he's just trying a new method of psyching out his opponents? The dude's smart.
PP: You did have a couple wins, though.
HH: Yeah, Ryback, and Harper came through for me in a big way.
PP: You mean for your brand?
HH: No, I mean for me. I hate losing, Pluck. Especially to that hairy midget Fierce GM. We went 2-2 on the first episode, and I'm alright with that. I'd have preferred 4-0, but...who wouldn't?
PP: You added an impressive group to your roster with the supplemental draft, including but not limited too the Mexican superstar Sin Cara, and the "Irish Brute" Sheamus. How are you feeling about Raucous moving forward?
HH: I feel great about Raucous moving forward, man. The fact is, Dana's already acknowledged Raucous as the flagship show. We're #1, period. And we're going to prove that, when one of my superstars bring the AWE Heavyweight Championship where it belongs. If I have my way, nobody from the B show will ever even SEE the AWE Title. Perhaps we can get them a nice ribbon or something to fight over?
PP: The end of Raucous has been somewhat controversial, as you seemed to bring out your soldiers and turned them loose on an already beaten up John Morrison. Do you think it's professionally appropriate to turn your athletes loose on an injured wrestler, and possibly end his career?
HH: The way I see it, my superstars have something to prove. The problem with being #1 is you have to stay #1. I wanted them to send a message. If Morrison was done in the ring after that, well -- he's not from my show, now is he?
PP: Interesting. That gives fans a lot to think about, and we look forward to the second episode of Raucous, Hulk!
HH: Good, good. You're welcome for having me...
PP: Some strong points made by Hulk there. Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of all of it yet. But in the mean time, my second guest is here, please welcome Fierce GM, Zeb Colter. Hello, Zeb!
ZC: Hey Plucky, how are you?
PP: I'm good Zeb. Zeb, let me get right into it. What are your thoughts on how the first episode went down?
ZC: Well, I was proud of all of my guys. Even Kidd and Morrison. They may not have pulled out the Ws, but they showed heart, and entertained the fans. I think they also happened to put on the two most entertaining matches. Even though none of them were particularly long.
PP: Speaking of match length, Brock Lesnar clearly isn't getting paid by the hour around here. What do you think of his actions from this episode?
ZC: I mean, I don't think he was necessarily in the wrong, in any way. He's always been a very confident, very athletic, and very dangerous man. He hits hard, he moves fast. He's a true beast of an athlete. I can't hold that against him. He lacks respect for most people, and you really have to earn it from him.
PP: You've also managed to procure a hell of a roster, between the first show, and the supplemental draft. Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Dean Ambrose, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, John Morrison...what's your secret if you're willing to share?
ZC: These guys wanted a place where they could go and not only hone their craft, but put on a show, week after week, the way they're meant too. Hulk clearly is a fan of Superstars. I'm a fan of athletes. I want men who were born, who have trained, who have shed blood, sweat, and tears, for this business, because I know they're going to provide the most return on investment. They may not have a certain prototypical look, but they're going to put on a hell of a show. That's what I care about. And I should say, I'm not knocking the guys Hogan has chosen. There is a LOT of great talent, there. A lot. But he and I have very different priorities, when scouting for talent.
PP: And finally, we know that your show will be hosting the first round of the AWE Title Tournament.
ZC: That's right.
PP: What are you expecting there?
ZC: I'm expecting eight men to come out to the ring, and give us a hell of a show. I expect eight men to all want one thing, at the end of the day, and that's the championship belt. For it being my first show, really I just want all of them to come out and give the fans their money's worth. I'll also be calling out Hulk, since he'll be there for the Tournament, to have some words with him about how Raucous ended.
PP: I take it you weren't too pleased about one of your new Athletes nearly being beaten by a small gang?
ZC: ...we'll get into that at the start of Fierce.
PP: I look forward to that. Thanks for your time, Zeb.
ZC: Thanks for having me Plucky, hope to chat with you again!
PP: Zeb seems to be all about the fans, and his Athletes' performances. I'm certainly interested to see how that plays out in contrast to Hogan's handling of Raucous.
PP: Now I'm extremely stoked to have AWE Owner, and CEO, Dana White here with me. Hello Mr. White.
DW: Dana's fine, Plucky.
PP: Well, my first question is, what brought about AWE?
DW: AWE was a passion project of mine for a long while, Pluck. I saw the state of your average pro wrestling programming, and I thought a lot had been lost in transition. Rather than being used as a simple promotional tool, social media had become a cornerstone of the product. I want a show that is setting trends, not catching up to them. I want performers that are giving their all every week, and doing their best to top each other in bringing the house down. Not going through the motions, until the next Pay Per View. I want a show that fans feel they can't miss, and athletes feel they can't miss out on being a part of. Competition creates quality, Plucky. Quality creates cash. You don't need to have women parading around 3/4s naked, and dropping constant cuss words to be edgy, and you don't need to constantly stress about being PC enough for kids, to appeal to them. The key is family entertainment, here. This is a violent sport, it's intense entertainment. It's not for everyone. But those who it is for, I want AWE to be in the forefront of their minds.
PP: What about your hopes for the AWE Heavyweight Championship Tournament moving forward, any thoughts on that?
DW: Well, I think Zeb summed it up pretty well. The AWE Heavyweight Champ is the de facto face of the company. The point of the tournament is to make that future face earn that privilege. And that's what I want the Championship to be as AWE's owner. Your Titles shouldn't be a prop. They should be regarded as being the symbol of being the best of the best. I don't care if it's the AWE Heavyweight Title, or any other Title we install down the road. That belt on your waist, or on your shoulder, means you're the best. I expect the best, from the best, just as the fans do. And I expect every single competitor in AWE to want to be the best. Mediocrity is unacceptable in the AWE. I think the eight men we have in the Tournament embody that hope well, and I think it will be great, and very entertaining.
PP: Agreed, and let's show the fans that Tournament bracket one more time...
PP: Four very good matches are on the way. Is there anything else you can tell us about the Tournament plans?
DW: The first four matches will happen on the first episode of Fierce. After that, the semi-final matches will be split between the following episodes of Raucous, and Fierce, and we'll get into our first Pay Per View, Summer Blockbuster Wrestle-stravaganza, with the Tournament finals being the main event. Very exciting couple of months ahead, for AWE.
PP: One of the superstars in that Tournament made a hell of an impression on the first episode. And it's my understanding that Zeb has officially signed him to a contract, as was announced on Twitter. I'm of course talking about "The Beast" Brock Lesnar. What do you feel about his behavior on Raucous, and is there anything you plan to do to dissuade him from doing it again?
DW: I mean -- it's Brock Lesnar. What can you really do? Ha ha. But I've spoken with both Zeb, and Brock, privately. Zeb understood my concerns about Brock before ever bringing him in, but Zeb has an immense amount of respect for Brock, as do I, and as I think everyone should. But Brock has to be reigned in every once in a while. He sees red, and he forgets that it is another human being across from him, or maybe he just doesn't care. Either way, I spoke with him, and we have an understanding. Basically, if I feel he's intentionally harmed anyone during the AWE Title Tournament, he will be removed from the bracket, and his previous opponent will take his place. As far as Orton goes, he's a tough son of a bitch, too. He can take a beating, and come back for some more. He'll be alright.
PP: And that was enough to convince him to pull back on his rampage?
DW: Not necessarily. Brock Lesnar only knows one speed when the bell rings. That's just who he is. But Brock also wants to be champion. He wants to be the best, that's what he works for. He's smart enough that he will not risk that, intentionally.
PP: I hope you're right boss...
PP: But that's all the time we have for tonight. I want to thank Hulk, Zeb and Dana for being my guests, and we'll see you for the first episode of Fierce, where eight men will battle it out for AWE's top prize, the AWE Heavyweight Championship, in the first round of the Title Tournament. I'm Plucky S. Preston Esq., and I bid you good night!
